Doesn't mean he doesn't belong here, but I think that the above commenter who commented on japanese culture may be correct; I think his feeling of insult was a cultural thing. Deals seem to work differently in japan due to the politeness, and in my experience business has a whole "reject, reject, accept" aspect to it.

That said, I still wouldn't want to go through the trouble of dealing with him in a business setting.
