What makes these people so hard to deal with is the fact that in their mind, they're doing it right. They're tough, they're serious, and their harsh attitude is their way of trying to prove that they have power.
The 'supporters' are operating on much the same mentality. The seller is a "good person" (and they very well may be) but mistakes are things only BAD people do... so it's vitally important to shift any blame that might be put on the seller. They CAN'T be to blame, they're not BAD.
...or at least that's my theory. Mistakes are somehow automatic failures or inherent weaknesses to them, instead of the learning experiences they SHOULD be. The energy that should be spent on correcting their behavior and learning how to be better is instead spent on being defensive.
