Beware - Flyingfire

I commissioned Flyingfire (www.furaffinity.net/user/flyingfire/) around May 2009 for a badge of my character to wear at MFF that year. She hasn't actually finished the badge, and it's way past the deadline. Over the course of more than a year, I met her regularly at the local bi-weekly fur meets where she would tell me she forgot my badge or that she didn't realize I would be at the meet that particular day even though she could have sent a note to ask if I was going that time or just brought it with her in case I did. I let it go for a while, but then she stopped mentioning it altogether. That's when I decided to ask her about it in a note on FA. She says she forgot about it. Here's the screen cap img823.imageshack.us/img823/7021/capd.png. I let her know that I didn't actually want the badge anymore and just wanted a refund. She told me she'd have that for me two weeks later, so I waited. Two weeks later, I ask her about it (here's a cap of that note: img256.imageshack.us/img256/204/cap2t.png), and she said she didn't have cash but would gladly paypal my refund to me. I haven't seen a dime of that yet.
At this point I'm not expecting a refund or the promised work. This is strictly a beware for others to see and add to.

Update: I just received a refund.

I don't know all the details. She's my best friend... I'm not quite sure it's a good idea posting something like this when dealing with another local fur since it will only create tension... but that's just my opinion.

Flyingfire wouldn't do something like this to spite you. She's not that kind of person. That's really all I can say on the issue.

I don't think it has anything to do with "spite", just that money was exchanged with the promise of a badge being created, and yet FF still has money but not given the badge. It's just bad business practices and if she forgets commissions and refunds a lot, then maybe she shouldn't be doing commissions to keep people from being upset that they are giving her money and yet receiving nothing in return.

I wouldn't let someone being local interfere with me posting here - if they're good on their word one can always update saying the matter was resolved, and if not, it's still good for others to know. Tension be damned in my opinion.

Friends of the artist in question are often on here, if not the artist themself.

Bad business happens. Not necessarily out of spite, but it still has to be dealt with.

If you don't know all the details, I'd advise against white-knighting.
