Sewing can be hard to get into, finding customers is harder for me than for fursuit maker or drawing, but they certainly can pay nicely for the time put into actually making them. :)
$400 is really steep though, unless you're talking something huge, or super complicated. Most furry custom plushes (including mine) are in a $1-200 kind of range. Many are even cheaper.
